CERMA will gather project partners and participants at the University of Babe\u0219-Bolyai, Cluj-Napioca, for a three-day theme-based training focused on the use of hydrological models for environmental risk management. The workshop is designed to strengthen technical knowledge, support practical learning and advance CERMA\u2019s work on floods, droughts and heatwaves through applied modelling and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A central part of the workshop is dedicated to the practical use of hydrological models in environmental risk management. Participants will review model approaches for floods, droughts and heatwaves, learn about hydraulic modelling results, and discuss preventive innovative measures that can support more effective responses to climate-related risks. These sessions reflect CERMA\u2019s broader aim of translating scientific methods into tools that can be used in education, training and applied practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a big focus on practical modelling exercises, participants will work on building a high-resolution DEM from aerial images collected by drone\/UAS, followed by a hydraulic modelling case study using HEC-RAS. The training then continues with a hydrological modelling exercise using HEC-HMS and the same river basin, allowing participants to experience the full workflow from terrain data preparation to model application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By combining technical demonstrations with collaborative discussion, the event helps prepare the next phase of project activities, including the modernization of curricula and the development of new lifelong learning content for students, educators and professionals.
