Advancing Flood-risk Assessment Through Innovative Modelling At The 7th Water Resources & Wetlands Conference

At the 7th International Hybrid Conference “Water Resources and Wetlands”, held in Tulcea (Romania), from 10-14 September, Gheorghe Şerban presented presented the study “First-Time Approach in Romania of Rain-on-Grid (RoG) 2D Hydrodynamic Model for Storm-Event Hazard – Baia Mare Municipality Case Study”, developed by Daniel Andrei Sabău, Gheorghe Şerban, Răzvan Bătinaș, Petre Brețcan and Daniel Dunea.

Although the presentation was not delivered as a CERMA project activity, its subject is closely connected to CERMA’s work on hydrological risk assessment and flood modelling. Rain-on-Grid modelling offers an approach for representing rainfall directly over a terrain surface and analysing how water accumulates and moves during storm events, providing valuable information for understanding flood hazards in complex urban environments.

Research such as this contributes to the wider scientific knowledge base that CERMA builds upon, particularly as the project works to connect advanced modelling methods with practical approaches to environmental risk management.
